FAQ
Remedial massage therapy is the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal issues, any aches, pains and injuries. During your treatment the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues are treated to promote healing and restore function.
Research has shown that remedial massage therapy does not need to be painful to be effective. There may be areas that feel more discomfort that others but a painful technique can be counter productive in a treatment.
Our therapists will adjust the pressure to your comfort level and will check in regularly about pressure, positioning and movement.
Remedial massage is more targeted and focuses on treating specific problems and conditions. The length of the session will determine the number of areas of the body that can be treated.
This appointment will be 15mins longer than subsequent appointments to allow time to discuss your needs and health history. We want to take this time to understand what your goals are and how we can support you with those. Initial and subsequent appointment will be charged at the same rate.
Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move.
Ensure there is adequate space for the therapist to set up their table. A 3m x3m space or more is ideal.
Let us know if parking can be tricky.
If there are animals at the property, it would helpful if they can be kept in a different room.
The number of sessions will be discussed during the initial session where a detailed treatment plan will be completed.
Your session may include rehabilitation exercises. They will be tailored to your specific condition and complement the massage therapy. To see long term effects you may need to strengthen or stretch the affected muscles. Your therapist will guide you through the exercises and provide instructions for you to continue them at home. Reach out at anytime if you are unsure or have any questions.
FAQ
Remedial massage therapy involves the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal issues, addressing aches, pains, and injuries to help your body heal and restore function.
During your treatment, I work with the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues, tailoring the approach to your specific needs. Techniques such as trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and deep tissue massage can be incorporated, alongside gentle stretching and relaxation techniques to calm the nervous system and promote overall well-being.
Cupping is also available as an additional tool to help reduce the feeling of tightness and tension in specific areas. It can be included as part of your treatment at no extra cost.
Every session is designed to help you move and feel better while creating space for you to relax and focus on yourself!
Comfort Matters in Remedial Massage Therapy!
Research shows that remedial massage therapy doesn’t need to be painful to be effective. While some areas may feel more tender or uncomfortable than others, using painful techniques can actually be counterproductive to your treatment.
That’s why I regularly check in with you during your session to adjust the pressure and ensure you’re always comfortable. Your comfort is a priority—if you need to change positions on the table or would like additional pillows for support, just let me know.
Active movement (you moving) and passive movement (when I gently guide your body) are often included in treatments to enhance results and help your body feel its best. Together, we’ll create a treatment experience that works for you—effective, supportive, and always with your comfort in mind.
Remedial Massage vs. Relaxation Massage:
What’s the Difference?
Remedial massage is a more targeted approach, focusing on addressing specific issues such as aches, pains, or injuries. It’s about identifying and treating the underlying causes to help restore function and ease discomfort. The length of your session will guide how many areas we can focus on, ensuring each one gets the care and attention it needs.
In contrast, relaxation massage is all about unwinding—it’s designed to help you de-stress, calm your nervous system, and leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. While remedial massage can still be relaxing, its primary goal is therapeutic, tailored to your body’s specific needs.
Whether you’re looking to relax or resolve a particular issue, each session is designed with your comfort and goals in mind.
Your initial appointment will be 15 minutes longer than follow-up sessions. This extra time allows us to discuss your health history, understand your needs, and explore your goals. It’s an opportunity to ensure your treatment plan is tailored to support you in the best possible way.
To keep things simple, both initial and subsequent appointments are charged at the same rate.
To ensure your session goes smoothly, here are a few tips for preparation:
-
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely.
-
Create a clear space for the massage table. A 3m x 3m area or larger is ideal for the setup and to give us enough room to work comfortably.
-
Let us know about parking. If parking near your property can be tricky, a quick heads-up is appreciated.
-
Consider your pets. For everyone’s comfort, it’s helpful if animals can be kept in a separate room during your appointment.
These small steps help us create a relaxed, professional, and stress-free experience for you.
-
The number of sessions will be discussed during the initial session where a detailed treatment plan will be completed.
Your treatment plan will be designed to fit your unique circumstances, taking into account what works best for your schedule and lifestyle. Together, we’ll create a plan that supports your goals while being manageable and realistic for you.
Your session may include rehabilitation exercises tailored to your specific needs and designed to complement your massage therapy. These exercises focus on helping you achieve long-term results by strengthening or stretching the affected muscles.
Your therapist will guide you through each exercise during your session and provide clear instructions so you can continue them at home with confidence. If you ever feel unsure or have questions, you’re always welcome to reach out for support.
